THE OYLIN STANDARD
An heirloom should remain part of life—not become untouchable.
OYLIN defines a living heirloom through decisions that can be understood, maintained and revisited. This is a working standard, published only where the process and evidence exist.
Five principles
| Material honesty | Stone variation, pores, veining, inclusions and patina are described before approval. Photographs are direction, not a promise of geological repetition. |
| Serviceable light | LED module, driver access and electrical configuration are coordinated for the approved design and destination. |
| Repairable components | Where geometry permits, mechanical assemblies and replaceable electrical components are preferred over permanently sealed construction. |
| Movable construction | Handling, assembly and installation are considered during drawing review. Exact product weight is published only after verification. |
| Documented provenance | Approved batches can link stone, finish, backing, test record and finished allocation through an OYLIN Batch ID. |
What natural ageing means
Unlacquered brass darkens and records touch. Calcareous stone can etch when exposed to acid. Filled pores, resins and backing systems age differently from the geological body. Longevity begins by naming these changes honestly, then providing the correct care and service path.
What we do not claim
We do not publish universal lifespans, fixed spare-parts periods, stain-proof promises, public repair kits or weight thresholds without product-level evidence. As the collection matures, verified details will be added to the relevant product and batch records.
Durability is not the absence of change. It is the ability to understand, care for and continue living with an object.
