OYLIN is a natural-stone lighting atelier. The Sample Box is a tactile material study for comparing stone character, finish and scale—not a miniature electrical fixture.
No electrical components are included in the Sample Box.
All lighting behaviour is documented, not simulated.

What arrives
Four stone studies
Translucent calcite stone, select travertine, structured white marble and dark marble. Each stone is hand-finished to demonstrate the behaviour relevant to its intended use.
Translucent calcite stone demonstrates transmitted light, mineral movement and edge glow for shades and suspended-light panels. Travertine and marble demonstrate reflected light, carving, finish and surface character for sculptural bodies and bases; they are not presented as translucent materials.
Optical reference card
Printed off/on studies at 2700K and 3000K to preview calcite translucency, mineral movement and edge behaviour. It is a visual reference only and contains no lamp, LED, battery, cable or other electrical component.

Reading the materials correctly
For table lamps, travertine and marble are normally specified as the sculptural body or base; illumination is provided through the shade. Translucent calcite stone is the principal natural stone OYLIN specifies where light must pass through the material, particularly for shades and suspended pieces. Limited transmission in other stones is never assumed: optical suitability is confirmed from the selected batch at full scale.
From sample to specification
- Choose Standard or Curated. Pay securely online or complete the project brief.
- Review material character. Compare surface, porosity, colour movement, finish and intended lighting role.
- Select the project batch. Translucent calcite work may include slab imagery, backing selection and a full-scale illuminated control sample.
- Move into drawings. Commissioned projects proceed through concept approval, shop drawings and the agreed technical package.
Delivery without customs ambiguity
US mainland and EU core regions ship DDP. Duties and VAT are prepaid by OYLIN. Remote areas are quoted separately. Minor carrier disbursement or advance fees, if any, remain the recipient’s responsibility.
OYLIN Sample Box contains no electrical components; it is classified as natural stone specimens and printed material.
Estimated delivery is 2–3 weeks after cleared payment.
Returns
14-day return eligibility for unused boxes, complete and in original packaging. Returned materials are not restocked; returns are accepted for studio fit only. Contact OYLIN for RMA authorization before returning a box. International return transport, duties, handling, loss and damage risk remain the buyer’s responsibility.

Frequently asked questions
Can a sample match the finished fixture exactly?
A sample shows material character. Full fixtures are tested at 1:1 scale, with slab imagery, backing choice and LED distance confirmed per batch. Exact glow is specified, not assumed.
Can I return the Sample Box?
Unopened boxes may be returned within 14 days. Opened boxes are non-returnable due to the nature of natural stone.
Is the Curated Preview refundable?
The Curated fee covers atelier review and material curation. It is non-refundable, but credited toward your first commission.
Is there a public Revit library?
Revit families are project-specific and released after concept approval. A generic reference block is available on request.
