THE GENTLE DIMENSION · ENGINEERING WITH RESTRAINT
Stone can feel grounded without becoming a burden.
OYLIN uses subtractive thinking: remove unnecessary mass, simplify the assembly and resolve access before adding ornament. The goal is not to make stone imitate a lightweight material, but to use it with proportion and technical clarity.
What the drawing must resolve
| Stone geometry | Vein direction, pores, thin edges, cut-outs and the relationship between visual mass and actual structure. |
| Internal assembly | Brass supports, fasteners, LED location, driver access, cable path and installation sequence. |
| Light chamber | LED-to-stone distance, diffusion, hotspot control, thermal path and edge leakage. |
| Handling | Verified weight, balance, lifting points, crate support and safe installation method. |
Evidence before numbers
Exact weight, tolerance, thickness and structural limits belong to a product or approved project—not to a universal marketing claim. OYLIN publishes them only after geometry, material batch and assembly have been verified.
A subtractive workflow
- Model the visible form. Establish proportion, scale and the intended reading of stone.
- Separate material layers. Stone, brass, LED and fasteners remain legible in the working model.
- Remove unnecessary mass. Internal geometry is studied with fabrication limits and handling in mind.
- Prototype critical details. Thin sections, joints, backlit zones and mounting points are sampled where risk requires it.
- Document the approved assembly. Shop drawings, BOM and control material become the production reference.
The gentle dimension is not a fixed kilogram rule. It is the discipline of proving that every gram, joint and layer belongs.
