What is natural alabaster? Natural alabaster is a translucent stone valued for its soft mineral clouding and ability to transmit and diffuse light. OYLIN uses selected alabaster for made-to-order lighting and sculptural interior objects. Why is alabaster suitable for lighting? Its natural translucency allows warm light to travel through the stone, revealing internal clouding, veining and mineral lines that are often less visible when the fixture is switched off. Does thickness affect how alabaster glows? Yes. Apparent brightness and translucency vary with the selected block, wall thickness, carving depth and distance from the light source. OYLIN reviews the actual material together with the intended construction before production. Can I choose the stone pattern before production? Yes. For made-to-order projects, OYLIN can provide current material photographs or video for review before final stone approval and fabrication. What colour temperature does OYLIN use with alabaster? OYLIN standardises its lighting imagery and current made-to-order direction around warm 2700K light, subject to the electrical and technical requirements of the project. Can I receive a physical stone sample? Samples may be available depending on the material batch and project. Because natural alabaster varies within a block, a sample should be treated as a material reference rather than an exact representation of the finished piece.
